A Fatal Accident

We are sorry to state that news was received in Butler Monday evening that Mr. 
J.H. Hammock, freight conductor on the L&N Railroad between Columbus and 
Birmingham was accidentally killed at Birmingham Sunday night.  (the rest of 
the article is torn, and this is how it appears) climbing a pair of steps 
(article torn) freight car while passing under bridge and was caught in some 
(article torn) between the bridge and the (article torn) fearfully crushed.  He 
was 24 years of age, a son of M(article torn) Hammock of Wilchar L(article 
torn) one of the most efficient (article torn).
