Riley, took its flight to a Heavenly Home. That “death loves a shining mark” could not have been more truly verified than in this instance, but He who gave hath taken away. On Tuesday evening at 3 o’clock little Hugh peacefully breathed his last and his soul returned to Him who gave it life. On the fifth of January last he was 12 years of age and from the time he learned to read, the Bible was his daily guide and tried in everyway possible to live in the full discharge of his Christian duty. A few months ago Hugh gave his heart to the Lord and united with the Methodist church. Since that time he has been His child. In school he was loved by all his playmates and in Sabbath school was punctual with his presence and his lessons and will be sadly missed by all. His whole life was a model of perfection and it is to be hoped that his example will lead others to Christ. His remains were interred in the cemetery in Butler on Wednesday evening, the services being conducted by his pastor, Bro. Funderburk.
