Sad Death of Miss Nettie Riley

Died at her home in Butler, Aug. 3rd, Miss Nettie Riley, daughter of Mrs. 
Martha Riley.

All the care and love skilled physicians and an anxious household could devise 
for her comfort were used, but the (word unreadable) of Him who rules had been 
issued and after a brief struggle, despite the prayers of all her loved ones 
the sufferer’s spirit took its flight to that home the Christian believes is 
the fulfillment of the life everlasting.

In the death of Miss Nettie we fully and keenly realize our loss.  She was a 
true friend and her devotion to those she loved would make a bright chapter in 
any life.  Nothing but the thought of the loving hand that has removed her can 
reconcile us to her absence.  Her retiring nature led her to hide her best 
qualities from public gaze but they were revealed to those who enjoyed her 
acquaintance yet it was in her home that her true worth was most conspicuous.  
She was a kind loving daughter and her devotion to the family circle had no 
limit.

The funeral services were held at Antioch church Wednesday morning Rev. (name 
blurred) officiating. The large number of (word blurred) friends who attended 
the service (words blurred) the high esteem in which she was held. This 
assemblage was one of the largest ever witnessed in the county on like 
occasion.  Many of the flowers she loved so dearly were woven into offerings 
and placed on her casket.  On the petals were tears for the parting and hope 
for the meeting beyond the gates.
