“Railroad Bill” Behind the Bars

Dillard Brown, colored, who on the night of November 10, 1910, shot and killed 
Early Montfort, another negro, at a frolic on Dr. Rogers’ place between Butler 
and Reynolds, was arrested last week at Brunswick after evading the officers of 
the law for more than a year.

Sheriff Beeland being sick last week, when notified of the negro’s arrest, 
deputized Mr. Russ Windham to go to Brunswick for the negro.  Mr. Windham made 
a quick and safe trip with his prisoner and the negro is now in jail here to 
await trial for murder.
