Parks and took the sweet young wife from this home to the eternal Home above. She was before marriage Miss Elna Myers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Myers. She was in her eighteenth year, being born on May 8, 1899. She was sick for some time and suffered a great deal, but bore her suffering as a “good soldier” – bravely and patiently, looking for God who “doeth all things well.” Her faith in God was so strong that she was resigned and willing to say: “Thy will be done.” It was hard to give her up and our hearts are torn with grief over our great loss, still we have that sweet hope that some day we will meet her again in that home where there is no more grief or pain, no more sickness or death. We feel like our loss is her eternal gain. She leaves a devoted husband, a father, mother, three sisters and a brother to mourn her death. We would point them to Christ who alone can heal the broken heart and pray that this sad occasion may bring each one to a closer walk with God. May heaven seem dearer to us because she is there. Mrs. Parks was a sweet, gentle woman; none knew her but to love her. She was laid to rest in Pine Level cemetery, there to await the resurrection morning when the dead in Christ shall rise again. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Lumpkin. May our Heavenly Father keep her loved ones and fill the aching void in their lives. And may we so live that we may meet Elna again the land where sad partings are known no more.
