Parker Mr. John L. Parker, one of the best citizens of Talbot county, died at his home at Box Springs on Tuesday morning the 18th, inst, after a short illness Mr. Parker was 74 years of age. He was generally known throughout Taylor and Talbot counties and was held in the highest esteem as a Christian gentleman. He was a useful member of the Methodist church and died with the knowledge of a life well spent in the service of his Master. He was quiet and unassuming in his manners, but as a husband, father, brother, citizen and neighbor, his qualities could not have been surpassed. His wife preceded him to the skies only a few months ago, which was a sad affliction to him. He was the father of Mr. J.W. Parker, of Columbus, who died recently, Mr. Walker Parker of Harris county, Mr. Arthur Parker of Box Springs, Mrs. A. J. McGee and Mrs. Leila Allison of Butler, who have much sympathy from their friends in this community. His remains were buried near the old homestead at Box Springs on Wednesday.
