Taylor COUNTY GA Pike, Ellis File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Angela Covington http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/taylor/obits/pikee.txt Ellis Pike (Dated 1971) Funeral services for the late Ellis Pike, 72, were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, September 23,from the Howard Untied Methodist Church with the Rev. Ben Guined, pastor of the Midway Baptist Church, officiating in the church cemetery. A Taylor County native, Mr. Pike was born March 25,1899, son of the late John and Elizabeth Morris Pike. He was a member of the Horeb Baptist Church and a retired farmer. He died at his home early Wednesday. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mattie Lou Culverhouse Pike; three adopted daughters, Mrs. Jessie Pike Bickley of Talbotton, Mrs. Katie Pike Dean of Atlanta, and Mrs. Odell Pike Parks of Butler; an adopted son, Addis L. Pike of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Lovelace of Alvin, TX, and Mrs. Mattie Drew Jinks of Butler; two brothers Roy Tom Pike of Warm Springs and Lee Dennis Pike of Mauk; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Edwards Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements with the nephews of the deceased serving as the pallbearers.
