Ruffin News has reached this office that Mr. Henry J. Ruffin, formerly of this county, but for the last several years a citizen of Texas, died at his home in Alma, Texas July 10th, after an illness of three days. Mr. Ruffin lived for many years in this county and married Miss Jennie Jinks, daughter of Mr. Willis Jinks, and was a brother of the late G.T. Ruffin deceased of this county. Mr. Ruffin was seventy one years of age and leaves several sons and daughters to mourn their loss. He was also brother-in-law to Mrs. J.T. Taylor of this county. NOTES: Henry J. Ruffin was the son of James J. and Sarah Averett Ruffin. He married Winnie Virginia "Jennie" Jinks, daughter of Willis and Nicey Martin Jinks in Taylor Co on Dec 31, 1868. They moved with their family to Alma, Texas (Ellis Co) around 1886. Henry J. enlisted in Columbus in Capt Hatch Cook's company, which went across to Alabama and became a part of Hilliard's Legion. This legion later became part of 59th and 60th Alabama.
