Sanders Called to Rest After an illness of several months Mr. Merida Sanders died at seven o’clock Sunday night at his home near Carsonville. Following an impressive funeral service conducted by Rev. M.T. Gaultney, the remains of Mr. Sanders were laid to rest in the cemetery at Carsonville. Mr. Sanders was a native of Putnam County, Ga., having been born there August 5, 1848. In early life he moved to Upson County where he lived until 1894, when he moved to this county and settled near Carsonville where he resided until the time of his death. He was a successful and well-to-do farmer, a well-known and highly esteemed citizen. Mr. Sanders was a quiet but useful citizen, and the county has suffered a great loss by his death. For many years he was a member of the Methodist church and during the last few years and months of his life he had manifested great faith in the blessings of his Saviour. Mr. Sanders was preceded to the grave by a devoted wife by about three years. He leaves five children together with many friends and relatives to mourn his loss. The following are the surviving children: Messrs. G.T., W.N. and L.M. Sanders; Mrs. T.M. Smith and Mrs. E.C. Cosey.
