Theus Succumbs To Pneumonia After battling for ten days or more with the disease that was gradually sapping her gentle life away, and that without avail, though she had the very best of care and attention, the body weakened by disease and no longer able to stand the attack, the spirit of Mrs. Thomas Theus gave up the struggle Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock and returned to the God that gave it being. The announcement of the death of Mrs. Theus caused much sorrow among all the friends who had known and loved her since childhood, having been reared in the same community in which she died. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.M.C. Taunton of Mt. Pisgah community, and was about 35 years of age. She was a faithful member of the Baptist church, her membership being at Mt. Pisgah. She was not only faithful to her church, but just as faithful in believing that it was her duty as a Christian to do the will of her Master at all times. She was always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need – both in acts of kindness and in words. At the last, while surrounded with mother, father, husband, children, sisters and brothers, being unable to speak, she opened her eyes and with a pleasant smile on her face gave them all farewell. Truly she could say “O death, where is thy sting; O Grave, where is thy victory?” The remains of Mrs. Theus were interred at Mt. Pisgah cemetery Monday afternoon, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. John Locke, her life-long friend and neighbor. Besides other sorrowing relatives Mrs. Theus is survived by a devoted husband and seven children, all of whom have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in the loss of this good woman and Christian.
