While his sense of speech and hearing had been seriously deficient all of his life, it was but remarkably how he bore his affliction and was never heard to murmur or complain, but was ever cheerful and happy, always seeking an opportunity to perform a service or an act of kindness for some one. Josh was a true friend to everybody and to know him was to love him. With devotion and tenderness lavished upon him by his family and friends, he gave love and smiles in return, and no one claimed more friends than did this noble young man whose death we all mourn. Mr. Windham was ill only a short time with the fearful malady, influenza and pneumonia, which has caused the passing of so many of the county’s best citizens during the past few weeks.
