There are 15 graves marked only with rocks as head and foot stones. Remants of a stone wall can still be seen. The cemetery had all but been taken over by woods and vines. Family members cleaned it, installed a new fence and placed a monument. Hill family members from California, Florida and all over Georgia watched as Haines Hill, of Dahlonega, led a ceremony of dedication. After the ceremony, some of the attendees shared memories of visiting the cemetery as children. According to family genealogist Keith Hill, Archibald Hill brought his wife, Samantha Barfield, and their three children to the vicinity in about 1830. The family grew to 12 children. He purchased the land where the cemetery is located in 1851, when it was still in Marion County. Samantha died around 1860, and he remarried Catherine Barfield Watson. Three more children were added to the family. Archilbald and Catherine died around 1882. It is believed that Archibald and Samantha Hill are buried in the family plot. Joel Hill, their son who died of measles in 1862 in the hospital in Richmond, VA while serving in the Confederate Army, is also believed to be interred in the cemetery. The identities of the others buried there are presently unknown.
