Colbert, Esq., at 5 o’clock on Wednesday evening the 7th inst., Miss Mattie Newsome to Mr. T.E. Hines, of Bainbridge, Ga.; Rev. Dr. W.C. Bass, president of Wesleyan Female College, officiating. Mr. Bruton, of Bainbridge, accompanied Mr. Hines to Butler, and only the immediate family and a few special friends witnessed the ceremony, as the marriage was very quiet and known only to the most intimate friends of the family. The ceremony by Dr. Bass was performed in his usual impressive manner. The bride is one of Butler’s fairest and most accomplished young ladies – a graduate of Wesleyan Female College, whose accomplishments in music and art are not to be excelled. Miss Mattie has had charge of the music department of Bainbridge College for some time past and has made an enviable reputation. Mr. Hines is a talented young gentleman and a prosperous merchant of Bainbridge. An elegant supper was given the bride and groom by Mr. and Mrs. Colbert, at 6:20 p.m., they left for their home in Bainbridge, carrying with them the best wises of many friends.
