The Butler Herald Tuesday, July 9, 1912 Page Three Society Notes Compliment to Miss Frierson Mrs. Henry Pierce Wallace was hostess Saturday p.m. from 4 to 6, complimentary to her sister, Miss Nettie Ward Frierson. Mrs. Wallace was assisted by her daughters, Misses Elise and Janet Wallace. A feature of the afternoon was the writing of a favorite recipe for the “bride- elect” by each guest. Contrary to custom, a complete surprise awaited Miss Frierson in the way of a “shower”. The guests packed the gifts in a large box and had a messenger deliver it about 5 o’clock announcing that it was a special package for Miss Frierson. There was no fake surprise as she was bidden to open the box and give her guests the benefit of seeing the contents. But genuine delight and appreciation, as each dainty package was unwrapped. After this, a delicious salad course was served, followed by ice cream and bride’s cake. Miss Frierson wore a beautiful corn colored crepe-de-chine dress, hat, gloves and shoes to match. Her marriage to Mr. Malcolm Everett takes place Wednesday p.m., after which they leave for a visit to New York and other places. The Butler Herald Tuesday, July 16, 1912 Page Three Frierson – Everett One of the prettiest weddings of the season was that of Miss Nettie Ward Frierson and Mr. Malcolm Everett, which occurred Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. Thomas H. Frierson in Butler. The home was made (paper torn) and attractive for the happy occasion with pot plants and (paper torn). The parlor where the ceremony was performed, had for its decorations white and pink roses, and the hall was attractive with cases of white oleanders and ferns. In the sitting room where the presents were displayed bowls of white nasturtiums were placed on the mantles and tables. Just preceding the wedding Mrs. Julian Edwards sang, “O Perfect Love”, and during the ceremony “Traumerci”, was softly heard. The bridal party entered to the strains of Mendelsohn’s Wedding March rendered by Mrs. Edwards. First came Miss Jeannette Wallace, bride’s maid. The groom entered with his best man Mr. Arthur Cheatham of Macon. The bride and her maid of honor, Miss Elise Wallace met them at the improvised altar where the beautiful and impressive ring ceremony was performed by Rev. E.W. Anderson. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Mr. Robert Frierson, of Macon. The bride’s maid and maid of honor, nieces of the bride wore white lingerie frocks with picture hats of lace and carried bouquets of pink gladiolus. The bride never looked more beautiful than in her traveling suit of tan whipcord with hat, shoes and gloves to match. Her bouquet was white hydrangeas. Mr. and Mrs. Everett left immediately after the ceremony for a two weeks stay in New York and Canada, after which they will be at their future home in Macon. Many handsome presents attested to the popularity of this young couple. Mrs. Everett as Miss Frierson was one of Butler’s most popular young ladies, and for several years held a position as teacher in Butler Male & Female College. It is with a great deal of regret that she goes to another city to make her future home. Mr. Everett is a man of sterling character and a splendid businessman. He holds an important position with J.A. Flournor of Macon. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 5.0 Kb
