The Butler Herald Tuesday, July 30, 1912 Page Two A Correction The approaching wedding of Miss Louise Respess Phillips, the charming daughter of Mrs. Harriet Respess Phillips, and Dr. Sidney Hoke Bryan, one of the best equipped as well as one of the most popular practioners in this section of the state, will be solemnized at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. L.M. Lucas, Wednesday afternoon August 7th at 3 o’clock and not at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Mangham, as published last week by a regrettable oversight. The marriage of these, two of the most popular young people ever reared in Reynolds, is the universal topic of conversation with their many admiring friends. Immediately after the marriage Dr. and Mrs. Bryan will leave for a delightful two-week’s honeymoon trip to many places of interest in the east and north. The Butler Herald Tuesday, August 13, 1912 Page Four Phillips-Bryan Wedding The marriage of Miss Louise Phillips, the beautiful daughter of Mrs. Harriet Respess Phillips, to Dr. Sidney Hoke Bryan, a physician of prominence and a model young man, was solemnized at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. Lewis Lucas, at 3 o’clock, the Rev. Z.T. Weaver of this place performing the ceremony in his own inimitable and impressive way. The attendants were as follows: Miss Ethel Lucas and Mr. Paul Hodges, Miss Claribell Ingram and Mr. Jake Weaver, Miss Martha Kendrick and Mr. Howard Neisler. Mr. Thurman Whatley was best man, and entered with the groom. Miss Margaret Phillips, a lovely blonde sister of the bride was maid of honor and entered alone. The bride, a brunette of marked beauty and grace, entered with her brother-in-law, Mr. W.O. Tarver, and was handsome in her traveling suit of tan, with hat and gloves to match. Her exquisite bouquet of lace fern and pure double white China asters was tied with long streamers of tulle. The bridesmaids were all gowned in dainty lingerie dresses and carried bouquets of flesh tinted asters with lace fern, tied with tulle of the same delicate shade. Just preceding the bridal party’s entrance, Miss Ella Bess Phillips, another sister of the bride, whose queenly carriage and brunette beauty was marked with dignity on this happy occasion, sang sweetly and with pathos “I Love You Truly” accompanied by Mrs. T.W. Pool, who also played Mendelssohn’s Wedding March, rendering “Soft and Low”, a favorite melody of the bride, during the ceremony. The bridal party formed a semicircle in front of towering palms whose majestic grandeur reached almost to the ceiling, forming a fairy-like background for handsome youths and lovely maids. The drawing room, in which were exhibited two large tables filled to overflowing with cut glass and silver, as well as handsome rugs and squares, gifts to the bride and groom, was artistically decorated with ferns and cut flowers. Immediately after congratulations the happy couple left for an extensive trip to various places of interest North, boarding the train under a shower of rice and a wealth of good wishes from their hosts of friends.
