Newsom – Hodges

Wednesday afternoon at four o’clock Miss Winnie Newsom and Mr. E.W. Hodges were
united in marriage at the Baptist church in Butler, where Rev. H.O. Fowler, the
officiating minister, was conducting a series of meetings.  Accompanying them to
Butler and witnessing the ceremony were numbers of intimate friends.

Following the ceremony the happy couple and their friends returned to Reynolds
in automobiles.

The bride is the pretty and accomplished daughter of Mrs. B.H. Newsom, while the
groom is the eldest son of Hon. and Mrs. E.E. Hodges.

The couple have been lovers for a number of years, and but for the war, into
which Mr. Hodges felt the call of volunteer service, they would probably have
plighted their vows some time ago.  He was at home this week on a leave of
absence, and with the prospects of his having to leave for France soon, they
decided to be wedded that he might go with the blessings of a loving wife.  The
bride is one of Reynolds’ reigning belles, admired by a large circle of friends.
 Mr. Hodges is a young man of sterling worth.  He is with the Emory Base Unit at
Camp Gordon and it is not improbable that he will shortly be sent “over there.”
 Many and hearty are the congratulations and good wishes extended them.
