Shumate – Cooke

Of interest to many admiring friends here and elsewhere is the announcement of
Mr. and Mrs. B.M. Shumate, of this city, of the marriage engagement of their
attractive daughter, Miss Mellie Lee, to Mr. John Conrad Cooke, of DeSoto, Ga.,
formerly of Hickory, N.C.

The wedding will take place at an early date it is announced.

Miss Shumate is a prominent school teacher, and one of the most popular young
women in the county.  Mr. Cooke is a well and favorably known railroad employee.
