DODGE COUNTY NEWSPAPER CLIPPINGS Volume I., 1873-1892 By: Tad Evans Date: See Page 250 Thursday, July 23, 1885 Obituary: Page 251 OBITUARY MALOY---Died at her residence in Telfair County, on the 18th June, 1885, Mrs. Mary E. Maloy, aged 55, 6 months and 12 days. Mrs. Maloy was the daughter of Rev. James Williamson, who is now 80 years of age, and is still working as a minister of the gospel in Telfair, Dodge and Pulaski Counties, where he has been laboring for more thab half a century, but will soon be called to that blessed world of endless joy, where he will meet his first born babe, Mrs. Mary E. Maloy, and her sister who died in infancy, and his loved companion with whom he lived in heavenly bliss for more than fifty years, and all his family and friends whom God has taken home to heaven. In speaking of the dead, we are too apt to be influenced by our feelings and to lay our reason aside; but in the case of Mrs Maloy, her feelings and reason were equally balanced. As a wife, she was careful and confiding, true and faithful; as a mother, she was tireless in laboring for the welfare and happiness of her family and children, and her labors have not been in vain, for her sons are all honorable and useful members of society--- among whom is Dr. Jno. K. Maloy, and her daughters are amiable, chaste and tender-hearted. The deceased wasd a kind-hearted woman--she felt for the sufferings of others. She was a Christian in early life, joined the Baptist church at Sharon, and was baptized by her father. She lived in the light. Her hands and heart were ever ready to aid the disconsolate. May God sanctify the death of Mrs. Maloy to her family, and especially to her youngest son, Willis, who was the joy of heaven to his dearly loved mother. Additional Comments: Compiler Notes: Mary Elizabeth Williamson was the wife of the late Daniel Harrington Maloy who died 23 Dec 1883 in Telfair County, Georgia. It can be assumed she was born in Effingham County, Georgia as her parents were married there one year before her birth. They are are both buried in Section C., Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery in Telfair County., Georgia.
