                             ALLEN YAWN
   Allen Yawn, one of Dodge County’s oldest and most popular citizens, died at 
his home Chauncey, Tuesday morning quite unexpected.  He had enjoyed good 
health for one of his until Monday afternoon when he suffered a stroke of 
apoplexy.
  He was a native of Dodge County, having been born 84 years ago, the son of 
the late Calvin and Mary Harralson Yawn, and spent his entire life here.
   He is survived by the following children, his wife having died in April 
this year :  Mrs. Bill Mann, Rochelle, Mrs. B. F. Williamson, Mrs. Callie 
King, Mrs. Manning Pitts, Mrs. M. L. Kirkley; two sons, George and R. O. Yawn, 
all of Dodge County; two brothers, Will Yawn, Helena, and Elvie Yawn, one 
sister, Mrs. Carrie Achord, Chauncey.
   Funeral services were held from Elbethel Baptist Church Wednesday 
afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. O. Grant.  The following grandsons served as 
casket bearers; Willie Williams, Albert Williams, Sylvester Williams, Walter 
Williams, J. C. Mann, Raymond Kirkley.  Interment was in the church cemetery.

Compiler Notes: His wife Sarah Elizabeth Studstill Yawn died April 1940. (last 
year, not this year as stated above. John Allen Yawn was born 6 July 1855, 
Telfair County as Dodge County was not created till 1870.  And Chauncey 
District at that time would have been in the County of Telfair.
