The Dawson News (Dawson, GA), Wednesday, 15 November 1905 November 15, 1905
     To my friends and the people of Terrell county:  Before leaving the 
county and the city of Dawson, where I and my family have resided for a long 
while, I desire to extend to all these people a good bye.  The greater portion 
of a busy life has been spent here among you, and I am what I am by your 
patronage and encouragement, for all of which I now, in this public manner, 
express my appreciation and heart-felt thanks.  At the same time, I am more 
deeply touched and sincerely mindful of the kindness and consideration shown 
me and mine in the hours of distress and misfortune which recently visited my 
home.  In saying good bye I cannot express the deep regard and love which must 
always remain in my heart for the friends I am now about to leave as I go to 
new fields.  Respectfully and sincerelly,  T. H. Thurmond.
