News of her death occasioned much sorrow among many friends here and throughout the county. Mrs. Kennedy was a native of Macon, daughter of the late Albert M. Johnson and Lucy Williams Johnson. She had been a resident of the nursing home about a year and a half. After finishing school, she came to Dawson to teach school and during that time was married to the late Mr. Kennedy, a prominent farmer and businessman. She continued to teach school here and in the area for many years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Dawson United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lucy John Daniels of Phenix City, AL; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Aurella J. Powell of Atlanta and Mrs. C.J. Mitchell of Montezuma. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 3, at DuPree Funeral Chapel with interment following in Cedar Hill Cemetery [note: she is buried in Chickasawhatchee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery]. The Rev. Guy Parrish, Jr., Methodist pastor, officiated. Serving a pallbearers were Ernie Kennedy, Jimmie Johnson, Herschel Christle, Luther Durr, H.C. Smith and Claud Almon.
