The Dawson News, abt. April 12, 1984

Mr. Kennedy - Jesse Lafayette Kennedy, 94, died Monday, April 9 at his home 
near Dawson.  Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, April 11 at Harvey 
Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ken Hall of Atlanta, former associate pastor of 
Dawson Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial was in Chickasawhatchee Primitive 
Baptist Church Cemetery.  Ralph McGill played the organ and Mrs. Jane Odom 
sang "In The Garden".   A native of the community, Mr. Kennedy was born 
January 8, 1890.  His parents were the late James J. Kennedy and Margaret 
Jackson Kennedy.  He was a retired farmer and a member of the Chickasawhatchee 
Primitive Baptist Church.  Survivors include two nieces, Mrs. Lucy John 
Daniels of Columbus and Mrs. Margaret Whittle of Brunswick.  He resided with 
his great nephew Ernie Kennedy and his family.  Pall bearers were H.C. Smith, 
Dr. Walter Martin, Billy F. Smith, James Smith, Gene Ellington and Calvin Mims.
