August 14, 1986 Mrs. Kennedy - Mrs. Julia Jennings Kennedy, 94, died Friday, August 8, at Phoebe Putney Hospital where she had been a patient for over two weeks. She was a resident of Palmyra Nursing Home four years. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Harvey Funeral Chapel with the Re. Jim Spenser, pastor of Dawson Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. Tom Gainer, pastor of Leesburg Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. A native and lifetime resident of Terrell County, Mrs. Kennedy was born August 28, 1891. Her parents were the late Rufus Jennings and Lucy Bridges Jennings. She was married to the late William Kennedy and was a devoted member of the Dawson Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Whittle of Brunswick; A daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jerry Kennedy of Dawson; a brother, Rufus Jennings of Tallahassee, Florida; three sisters, Miss Mary Lucy Jennings and Miss Alice Jennings of Dawson and Mrs. Emily Petty of Columbus; six grandchildren including Ernie Kennedy, Mrs. Ann Brown, Mrs. Mary Alice Johnson and Mrs. Judi Miller of Dawson, and nine great grandchildren. Pall bearers were Larry Massey, Buck Waller, Jack Hufstettler, Tom Crittenden, David Carlson, and Fain Martin. Honorary pall bearers were Bill Malone, George Johnson and Horace Cook.
