Mr. Kennedy was killed by two young men who robbed him on Monday, January 26. His body was found near Jacksonville on Saturday. Mr. Kennedy was the son of the late Jesse Clee and Wray Martin Kennedy. His parents died when he was very young and he was reared by his aunt, Mrs. J.E. Waller, Sr. and his uncle, the late Albert Martin. He was married to the former Miss Martha Perry of Cuthbert. They had lived in Jacksonville about 25 years. Retired from Civil Service, Mr. Kennedy was active in civic and fraternal organizations including the Masons and Shriners. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife; two aunts, Mrs. J.E. Waller and Mrs. Albert Martin; and a number of cousins in Dawson. Attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Waller, Mrs. Albert Martin, Mrs. Robert Strickland, Mrs. Danny Blankenship and Clay Strickland.
