Dawson Man Shoots and Kills Himself

Dawson, Jan. 22 – A.W. McDonald, a well known citizen of Dawson, and proprietor 
of a cigar factory here, blew out his brains with a 38 caliber revolver last 
night about 11 o’clock.

He is said to have been drinking heavily for several days precious to the 
occurrence, and it is believed he committed the act while under a short spell 
of insanity.  He has not been despondent lately, and his business is in fine 
condition, leaving the deed without any cause that is now known of.  The man’s 
family had no intimation that he contemplated the act.
