Sapp, a former resident of this city, passed away in the Cairo hospital on July 31st after several months illness. Mr. Sapp came to Bainbridge when a young man in his early teens. He owned and operated a grocery business for a number of years here. He married Miss Bessie Dixon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Dixon of this county. Mrs. Sapp died 12 years ago and their youngest son, Capt. William Edwin Sapp, also preceded him 5 years ago. They moved to Cairo a number of years ago and he was in business there until his health failed him. Mr. Sapp was born in Terrell County in 1874. He was the last survivor of a large family. Mr. Sapp was a member of the First Methodist Church of Cairo where the last rites were held for him Sunday afternoon, August 2 by his pastor, Rev. Varnell. Burial followed in Cedar Grove cemetery out from Climax. The following children survive him: a son, John Marvin Sapp, Jacksonville, Fla.; five daughters, Mrs. Helen Clifton, Ocala, Fla., Mrs. Arthur Roberts, Yohama, Washington, Mrs. E. W. Wester, High Springs, Fla., Mrs. W. S. Chapman, Cairo, and Mrs. J. E. Ferrell, Jacksonville, Fla.; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. The active pallbearers were his nephews. They were Clayton Walker, Roy Jones, Carlton Wells, Clifford Wells, Luther Thomas, Alfred Dixon and A. D. Sapp. Cairo business men formed an honorary escort.
