September 23, 1890 Thomasville, Ga., September 17 -- Another large phosphate bed has been discovered in this county. This one is on Dr. Smith's plantation, seven miles from Thomasville, and is in large quantities. Professor Pratt, who first brought into notice the famous phosphate fields of Carolina, says the specimens examined show 62 per cent of phosphate. The craze has struck this section in earnest, and nearly every person you meet has rocks in his pocket.
