Larry Bird officiating assisted by Rev. Carl Howard. Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Thomasville. Mrs. Smith passed away July 22, 2003, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Born in Dekalb County on July 17, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Troy Adams and Velma England Adams. Mrs. Smith was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Moultrie and a member of the Lena Tyson Sunday School Class for 40 years and a member of Pacesetters of First Methodist Church in Moultrie and retired manager of Neel's department store. She served as Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Naomi Chapter No. 139 and served as the state of Georgia Eastern Star Grand Electra. She spent many years after retirement camping in the north Georgia mountains with her beloved husband and was known by all who knew her as a loving, kind, Christian woman who loved cooking and sharing her delicious cream cheese pound cakes with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar G. Smith, who passed away in 1993. Survivors include son Douglas Edgar Smith and wife Ann of Lawrenceville; daughter, Sandra Smith Piland and husband William E. of Thomasville; brother, Edward Adams and wife Carmen of Suwanee; sister, Margaret Adams of Snellville; grandchildren, Emily Smith and Sally Smith of Lawrenceville, Bill Piland and wife Pam of Fort Myers, Fla., Dicky Piland and wife Sherrie of Lawrenceville, Frankie Piland and wife Laura of Houston, Texas, and Jennifer Piland Sheldon and husband Michael of Marietta; great grandchildren Brett Piland and Caitlin Piland of Lawrenceville, Jessica Piland and Ashley Piland of Cape Coral, Fla., and Elizabeth Sheldon of Marietta.
