Dr. Milton C. Gardner and the Rev. Dr. Dan Spencer officiating. Interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are Corky Sampson, Rusty Sampson, Wesley Sampson, Tony Sampson, Terry Ferguson, Lee Ferguson, Scott Ferguson, Gene Ferguson, Kevin Vanlandingham and Curt Eason. Mrs. Varn died on July 20 at her residence. She was born in Thomas County on April 13, 1920 to the late LeRoy Ferguson and Susie Blanche Palmer. On Dec. 24, 1952, she married George Varn in Thomas County, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Varn was a member of the First Baptist Church and was the manager of the Rose Theater and also worked in sales at Neel's Department Store, the Antique Center and Zant's Children Shop. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Elaine and Randy Jones of Thomasville; grandson, Ryan Jones of Thomasville, brother and sister-in-law, Hollis and Sybil Ferguson of Fayetteville; sister, Lorene Bennett of Thomasville; sister and brother- in- law, Jean F. and Stamat Sampson of Thomasville; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ferguson of Cairo; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Louise House and brother LeRoy Ferguson. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
