Newsum, 70, of Summerfield, Fla., died July 18, 2003. Born Aug. 22, 1932, in Tulsa, Okla., he was regional sales manager for a computer company, of the Christian faith and a member of North Lake Presbyterian Church and served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. He moved from Seneca, S.C. in 1997 and enjoyed fishing, golfing, bridge and poker and worked with Operation Home Bound. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Grace Y. Newsum of Summerfield; a daughter, Sherie Ambrose of Thomasville; sons, Gary Newsum of Marietta, Sam Newsum of Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren, Stephanie Gilcher of Germany, Christopher Ambrose of Molesworth AFB, England, Julie Ambrose of Thomasville, Sarah Ambrose of Thomasville, Philip Ambrose of Thomasville, Melissa Ambrose of Thomasville, Zachary Ambrose of Thomasville, Joshua Newsum of Huntsville, Gracie Newsum of Huntsville; great-grandchildren, Mathew Ambrose of Thomasville, Carolin Gilcher of Germany; son-in-law, Chris Ambrose of Thomasville; and daughter-in-law, Karen Newsum of Huntsville.
