John L. (Batch) Stephens Sr.
John L. (Batch) Stephens, Sr., 83, of Thomasville, died on July 30, 2003 in 
Whigham. The son of George Washington and Belle Hancock Stephens, he was born 
on October 28, 1919 in Grady County. He was married to Annie Lou Harwood 
Stephens, who survives on January 6, 1942. Mr. Stephens was a retired 
carpenter. Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John L. and Lane 
Stephens, Jr. of Thomasville; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by a daughter Wanda Faye Stephens. The family will 
receive friends on Friday from 7 to 9 at the Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel.
