Virgil Lee and the Rev. John Bagwell, with Burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery by Dekle Funeral Chapel. Honary pallbearers will be members of the Gideons International and members of the administrative board of the church. Mr. Bass died Sunday, December 16, 1979, at Archbold Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born Feb 5, 1910 in Bradford County, Florida a son of the late William A and Mattie Jackson Bass. Mr. Bass moved to Thomasville from Tift County and spent most of his life in Thomasville. A produce broker, he was one of the founders of the State Farmers Market here and maintained a business at the market for 45 years. He was a member of Gideons International and the Dawson Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife Genelda Bass, daughters, Mrs. George(Mary Frances)Blow of Jacksonville, Florida, Mrs. Neil(Betty)Sherrod of LaGrange, Ga., Mrs. Greg(Winnette)Stinson of Thomasville and Miss Linda Bass of Statesboro, sons, Billy Joe Bass of Valdosta and Saudi Arabia, Allen Wayne Bass and Joseph Bass of Thomasville, a sister Minnie Lee Bass Hobbs of Walterboro, SC, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a number of neices and nephews.He was preceded in death by his brothers William Wesley Bass and Bira Bass of Tifton and his sisters, Lois Bass Lamb of Tifton and Pearl Bass Williams of Lake City, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Gideons International P O Box 182 Thomasville, Ga. or the Building Fund for the Dawson Street United Methodist Church.
