Everett Services for George S. Everett, Thomasville, are at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Ralph McCaskill and the Rev. Daniel Smoak will officiate. Interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Larry Harmon, Dr. Jimmy Clanton, Chip Watt, Tommy Vann, Greg Adams and Wiley Grady. Mr. Everett died Sunday, June 1 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born April 1, 1932 in Thomasville, he was a son of the late George Samuel and Marguerite Milton Everett. He was married to Helen Anderson Everett on March 30, 1958 in Clinton, S.C. Mr. Everett was a member of First Presbyterian Church, served in the U.S. Army and retired from the YMCA after 37 years and 20 years of which he served as director. Survivors include his wife, Helen A. Everett of Thomasville; sons and daughters-in-law, George William and Roban Everett of Atlanta, John Anderson and Lori Everett of Thomasville; son, Thomas Bailey Everett of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Avery Carson Everett, Sydney Anderson Everett and Harrison Brasher Stewart. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. The 71-year-old leader, who retired after more then 35 years with the Thomasville YMCA and Youth Center, Inc., fell victim to a heart attack Sunday morning, yet the fruits of his work in the community will be continue for generations to come. "His passions were his family, the community and the church. I can honestly say that," said son John Everett. "He really gave of himself and impacted so many lives.
