Katherine Luveda Mallard
Services for Katherine Luveda Mallard of Thomasville, affectionately known 
as ''Charlie'' by those who loved her, are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2003 
at The First Church of the Nazarene on Remington Avenue. The Rev. William 
Hamby will officate and interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are 
Blake Brookerd, Marion Mobley, Melvin Darby and Waymon Dekle. Ms. Mallard 
passed away on June 8 at Camellia Gardens Nursing Home. Born April 18, 1915 in 
Grady County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Walter Wellington and 
Louvenia Joyner Mallard. She walked daily with the Lord whom she accepted as 
her Savior at the age of 20. Blind and confined to a wheelchair she stated 
that she wished that she could do something for the less fortunate in the 
nursing home, but she said I can't even help myself. A family member told her 
she could do something, she could pray for them. She said she already did that 
every night. She was a beacon of light to all she came in contact with. She 
loved children and taught primary sunday school for years. She also kept 
children in her home for working parents. Survivors include her nieces, Ellen 
Stowe Redfearn, Pat Stowe (Art) Leberiaga; great nieces, Sonja Hull all of 
Thomasville, Deborah Clay of Mexico Beach, Fla.; great-nephews, David Redfearn 
and Mike Redfearn both of Thomasville; and several great-great nieces and 
nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Willodene Stowe; niece, 
Betty Stowe Morey; and nephew, Irie Lee Redfearn. Visitors may sign the online
