The Rev. Dr. James Spencer and Deacon Nancy Mills will officiate and interment is in Ochlocknee City Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Matthew Boles, Doug Briscoe, Wayne Lewis, Ed Boles, Craig Ireland and Robbie Willis. Miss Mathis died Friday, June 13 at her residence. Born May 15, 1971 in Thomas County, she was a daughter of Shirley Yarborough Mathis and the late Lloyd Mathis. She was a 1989 graduate of Thomas County Central High School, received her bachelor of science degree in early childhood education from Thomas University and received her master of science rehabilitation services from Florida State University. She was the recipient of the Young Womens Forum Auxiliary Scholarship, president of Future Georgia Educators, Student Government at Thomas University and coordinator for Special Olympics, Professional Association of Educators Speech, Hearing and Language Association, American Counseling Association of America, National Association of Rehabilitation and Committee of Employees with Disability Association.She had lived all her life in Thomas County and was a Title two claims representative for the Social Security Administration. Survivors include her mother, Shirley Yarborough Mathis of Thomasville; special friend, Christopher Hunt of Thomasville; uncle and aunt, Robert and Lynda Yarborough of Phenix City, Ala.; aunt, Beverly Walden of Cairo; aunt and uncle, Virginia and Roger White of Cairo; a host of cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Mathis; grandfather, William E. Yarborough; grandmother, Bessie S. Yarborough; grandfather, Dorsey Mathis; and grandmother, Janie Mathis.
