M. C. Smith, Mr. Thomas J. Humphreys, to Miss Elizabeth H., daughter of Mr. Brink Gandy, all of Thomas County, Ga. Wednesday, June 13, 1866 Another Wedding The delicate samples of wedding cake left on our sanctum table, remind us that we had the pleasure at 8 1/2 o'clock p. m., on the 7th instant, of witnessing the nuptial ceremonies of Mr. Frank J. Winn and Miss Sallie R. Davies, which took place at the Presbyterian Church: "For she is wise, if I can judge of her; And fair she is, if that mine eyes be true; And true she is, as she hath proved herself; And therefore like herself, wise, fair and true, Shall she be placed in my constant soul." This, doubtless, was the soliloquy of the happy bridegroom. May the resolution never be shaken, and may they both live in sweetest harmony and great prosperity throughout life. "The printer boys" were also kindly remembered, and while subscribing most heartily to editorial sentiment expressed above, indulge in the wish; that their several lots may be like "An eve intensely beautiful; An eve, calm as the slumbers of a lovely girl, Dreaming of Hope." Married On the 7th instant, by the Rev. A. W. Clisby, at the Presbyterian Church, in Thomasville, Mr. Francis J. Winn and Miss Sallie R. Davies, all of Thomas County, Ga. May love, health and prosperity, go hand and hand for many years to come, and when life's duties are all o'er, may they find safe anchorage in that clime where every eye beams love and the flowers never fade. ==================================================== ==================== Wednesday, August 1, 1866 Married By the Rev. Wolff, of the firm of H. Wolff & Bro. Of Thomasville, has lately entered the happy estate of matrimony. Davis; all of Thomasville. Tuesday, May 7, 1867 Matrimonial Our young lawyer friend, but former fellow soldier in the army, Capt. E. T. Davis, of Thomasville, terminated on Thursday night last a prolonged but most successful siege matrimonial, receiving a full surrender and carrying off to his own headquarters in Fletcherville one of our most beautiful and accomplished young ladies, in the person of Miss Mattie Jones, youngest daughter of Thomas Jones, Esq., one of the oldest and most respectable citizens of the county. In proof of his success, we exhibit in triumph a handsome printers' fee, and acknowledge the compliments of the happy couple. If the Captain did not succeed in war, he has more than triumphed in love, and in that triumph received the full reward of a virtuous patriotism. May they continue through life as happy as now, and may good health and prosperity attend them down to a ripe old age, and the "fullness of time" gather them finally to that eternal reward reserved for those who have faithfully fulfilled the duties of earth. Friday, May 10, 1867 "Courting a Widow" Is said to be one of the most delightful employments known to the art of love. The best evidence we can give of its truth is the fact that our young and esteemed fellow- citizen, Mr. Jas. E. Dyson, was united in wedlock to the handsome and intelligent widow, Mrs. Mary Ann Stegall, on the 8th inst. The nuptial ceremonies were performed by the Rev. M. C. Smith, at the residence of the bride's mother. We trust that their pathway through life may be strewed with the richest blessings and the sun of their existence long hang suspended in the western horizon ere it shall set. Tuesday, June 4, 1867 Married in Europe Herman Wolff, of the firm of H. Wolff & Bro., Thomasville, was recently married to a wealthy lady in Europe. The arrival of the news here set his friends to rejoicing and a Rhine Wine jollification took place yesterday in the back room of the store of H. Wolff & Bro., headed by the Junior of the firm, who happily committed matrimony last year. Complimentary speeches were made, congratulations dispatched on the wings of the wind and with praises of Bride and Groom, good wishes and good resolutions the friends adjourned.
