Jordan of the County of Thomas and State of Georgia; being of sound and disposing mind and memory, and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs, while I have strength so to do, do make and publish this, my last will and testament and first I commit my soul to God who gave it and my body; I desire to be buried in the family burial ground near Beulah Church; and my worldly Estate I dipose of as follows I give and bequeath unto my wife Margaret B. Jordan during her natural life or widowhood my entire property both real and personal. At her death or marriage my property to be disposed of as follows: To my sons James A. Jordan and John C. Jordan I give and bequeath one hundred acres of land being on the west side of lot two hundred and forty (240) embracing the homestead to be divided between them, the balance of my lands beging one hundred and ten acres more or less and my personal property, I leave unto my daughters Eugenia C. Vann, Rebecca C. Vann, Caroline Stacy, Margaret J. Adams. Mary C. and Jesse J. Jordan to be divided equally among them. I hereby appoint my son James A. Jordan as my Executor on this my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I the said James A. Jordan to this will have set my hand and seal this 6th day January 1882. James A. Jordan of said county, deceased was exhibited in open Court and in Common form of law, proved and admitted to record, a copy of which is hereto annexed; and administration of all and singular the Goods, Chattle, Credits, Lands and Tenements of said deceased was granted to James A. Jordan, Executor in and by said will named and appointed, he having first taken the oath and preformed all other requisites required by law, he is by order of said Court and by virture of these present legally authorized to administer the Goods, Chattles. Credits, Lands, and tenements of said deceased. According to the (tenor) and effect of said Will and Testament and, according to Law, and he is hereby required to render a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the Goods, Chattles Credits, Lands and tenements of said decease appraised and returned to this Court according to law and to render a true a correct account to the Ordinary of said County of his actings and doings yearly, until administration is fully completed. Jordan dec’d who being only sworn deposeth & saith that the within & foregoing inventory is just true & correct & contains a true account of all the goods & chattles rifgts & credits & real estate of said deceased that have come to his hand & possession knowledge. sworn to & subscribed before me this 23rd-day of June 1882 J:A. Merrill Ordinary of said County The petition of James A. Jordan, resident of said county and nominated Executor of the last will of James A. Jordan, also a residence of said county, who, died on the first day of April 1882., owning valuable real and personal. estate in said State: disposed of by said will and which remains to be administered, respectfully showeth that James A. Jordan died testate; that his will is herewith presented for probate. in common form; that your Petitioner is named in said will as it Executor. Wherefore your Petitioner (prays) leave to prove said will in common form, and the issuing to him of letter testimony upon his taking the oath of office. April 14, 1882 J.A. Jordan Georgia Thomas County---Before me same A. Way, named as a witness to the within writing, purporting to be James A. Jordan's last will and being duly sworn saith that he with J.G. Jordan and Enoch Partin, at the request of James A. Jordan and in his presence did attest the within writing as his James A. Jordan last will. That the same was signed and published by James A. Jordan in their presence as his last will. That he was at the time of said attestation and signing by himself of sound and disposing mind and memory; that he executed the within paper voluntarily-sworn to subscribed before me. this 14 day of April 1882 A. WAY J.S. Merril.l Ordinary Court of Ordinary for the County of Thomas, State of Georgia May Term 1882 The petition of James A. Jordan nominated Executor of the last will of James A. Jordan duly filed , having been supported by proper proof of Addison Way a witness to said will, that said James A. Jordan died a resident of said county; that he and the other witness J.G. Jordan and Enoch Partin saw him sign and heard him publish the alleged will. as his own last will. That he attested the same as a witness at his request in the presence with J.G. Jordan and Enoch Partin, so attesting also at his request that said Jams A. Jordan was at the time of said signing and attest he was of sound mind memory and did in the execution of said will freely and voluntarily. It is ordered that the same be duly recorded having been duly proved in common form , and that letter testimony be issued to him upon his taking the usual oath of office. J.S. Way; These are to authorize & impound you or any three of you to make a just & true appraisement of all & singular the Goods Chattles, Lands & Tenements (ready Money excepted of James A. Jordan late of said County deceased in dollars & cents as shall be produced by James A. Jordan the executor of the Estate of the said James A Jordan deed. You and each of you first taking the oath required by law, before some Justice of the Peace or any legal officer or each other for said County & that you will return the same certified under your hands & also a certificate of you having taken the oath thereto annexed unto the said James A.
