Funeral services for Archie L. Howell, 77, of Route 2, Tifton, who died Saturday
at his home, were to be held at 2PM today in St. Paul Free Will Baptist Church.
The Revs. R. S. Hayes and J. B. Mercer were to officiate with burial in Oakridge
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were to be Donnie Franks, Earl Franks, Bruce Howell, Neil Howell,
Lennon Howell, Lee Howell, and David Howell.
Honorary pallbearers were to be R. F. Haman, Grady Thompson Jr., Danny Thompson,
G. W. Lupo, Homer Wiggins, P. F. Crisp, F. F. Spencer, and John Stephens.
Born Feb. 27, 1906 in Tift County, Mr. Howell was a retired farmer and store
owner, and a son of the late William J. and Sarah Griffin Howell. He was a
member of St. Paul Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, and had
lived in Tift County most of his life.
Survivors include the widow, Pauline King Howell of Tifton; three sons, Elmer
Howell of Stockbridge, Rudolph Howell of Conyers, and Grady Howell of Albany;
one daughter, Mrs. Louise H. Franks of Tifton; two brothers, Ralph Howell of
Melbourne, Fla. and Ira Howell of Tifton; one sister, Mrs. Alice Sumner of
Rockledge, Fla.; eight grandsons, three granddaughters, and eight
great-grandchildren.
Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.

Additional Comments:
Archie L. Howell was born 2-27-1906 and died 1-14-1984 (GA DC# 002892) and is
buried in Oakridge Cemetery in Tift County. His parents. William Jefferson "Bud"
Howell and Sara Jane Griffin Howell as well as his wife, Pauline King Howell,
are also buried there.
