The Tifton Gazette
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Howell, 69, of Rt. 1, Omega, Colquitt County,
were to be held at 3PM Monday at St. Paul Free Will Baptist Church.
Mrs. Howell died at 2:40PM Saturday at her residence after a lengthy illness.
The Revs. Harvey Giddens and W. R. Harrell were to officiate at the services and
burial to follow in the Tifton cemetery.
Mrs. Howell was born Sept. 4, 1887 in Irwin County, the daughter of Ralph and
Rachael McMillan Griffin. She had been living in Colquitt County for the past 45
years and was a member of the St. Paul Church.
Survivors include her husband, William Jefferson Howell; three sons, Archie Lee
Howell of Omega, William Howell of Eldorado, and Arthur Ralph Howell of Lennox;
one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Alice Sumner of Omega; and one brother, Jesse Griffin
of Tifton.

Additional Comments:
Sara Jane (maiden name Griffin) Howell was born 9-4-1887 and died 1-19-1957 (GA
DC# 578) and is buried at Oakridge Cenetery in Tift County. Her husband, William
Jefferson Howell is also buried there.
