(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net September 16, 2013, 9:04 pm The Tifton Gazette 3-17-1956 Page 1 Hoke Smith Lamb Claimed by Death; Funeral Sunday Hoke Smith Lamb, 46, retired fireman and resident of Tifton for 21 years, died at 1:30pm Friday at his home, 115 West Seventh Street. He had been in ill health for some time but death came suddenly. Funeral services were announced for 3pm Sunday at the Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Lacey Whatley officiating and interment to follow in Tifton Cemetery. Pallbearers are Lester Yearti, John Woodard, Clarence Giddens, Fred Matthews, Len Fletcher, and Travis Giddens. Mr. Lamb was born March 24, 1909 in Telfair County and was a son of Arter and Bessie Barlow Lamb. He moved to Tifton in 1935 from Cook County. A retired employee of the Tifton Fire Department, he was a member of the Woodman of the World here. Survivors include his wife, the former Nellie Cain, whom he married March 8, _? __ ; a son, Tommy of Tifton; two daughters, Mrs. Louise King of Arabi and Mrs. Haroleen Lamb of Tifton; a granddaugher, Julia Ann King of Arabi; and a brother, Joseph L. Lamb of Macon. Bowen-Donaldson is in charge.
