Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Chapel in Melbourne. Born June 24, 1916, in Omega, Mrs. Sumner was the daughter of William J. Howell and Sarah Jane Griffin, both deceased. She moved to Melbourne in 1962 from Tifton and was a retired special education teacher. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Melbourne. Mrs. Sumner is survived by two daughters, Virginia Pendarvis of Valdosta and Marsha Monti of West Melbourne, Fla.; a son, Bennie Ray Sumner of Tifton; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Additional Comments: William Fred Sumner was born 9-16-1908 and died 2-13-1994. His wife, Sarah Alice Howell Sumner was born 6-24-1916 and died 7-21-2006. Both are buried at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Brevard County, Florida. Her parents, William Jefferson "Bud" Howell and Sara Jane Griffin Howell, are both buried in Oakridge Cemetery in Tift County, Georgia.
