Killed in the 5pm fracas were Troy Foskey of Lyons and Mitchell Boone and his brother, Thomas Boone, both of Route 2, Uvalda. Wounded during the exchange of at least nine .38 caliber and three .25 caliber rounds were Alfred Graham and Horace Barfield. The shooting occurred at a bar-poolroom where a fish market was once located, adjacent to J. D.'s Mini Market, owned by Marcus Luke on NE Broad Street. It is one block from the heart of the city, almost directly in front of the city hall. Officers said the shooting began after a fight erupted between Graham and one of the Boone brothers. Other customers were in the room, but fled when the shooting began. The three dead men were shot in a pool of blood at the end of the small bar near the rear of the room. Graham and Barfield are contained in the Toombs County jail, pending a hearing. They suffered wounds in the shoulder and face but were treated at Meadows Memorial and dismissed. Murder warrants were brought against Barfield and Graham by Mrs. Martha Whitaker, mother of Mitchell Boone and by Linda Joyce Boone, wife of Mitchell. Some 12 hours after the shooting, fireman were called to quench a blaze at the rear of the building which the fire marshall's office said was deliberately set. It was the second such call at the same place in three weeks and the third case of arson within the past month. Last month, Thompson's Grocery, on the same street, was burned out by fire. Several people have been arrested in connection with Thompson's fire and burglary.
