(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net April 20, 2011, 11:27 am The Vidalia Advance 12-20-1984 Page 4A Mrs. Inez Atkinson Mrs. Inez Tyson Atkinson, age 62, 209 Pine Street, Vidalia, Ga., died at Meadows Memorial Hospital on Thursday, December 13, 1984 following a brief illness. The homemaker was a native of Toombs County and the daughter of the late James W. and Frances Faircloth Wood. She had lived in Vidalia for 35 years. She is survived by her husband S. L. Atkinson, Vidalia; one son, Jimmy M. Tyson, Vidalia; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one step-daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Walker, Hazlehurst; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Willis, Reidsville and Mrs. Emma Smith, Cairo; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Atkinson were held at Blocker's Chapel Congregational Methodist Church on Saturday, December 15, 1984 at 3:00PM with the Rev. Otis Willis and assisted by the Rev. Dale Fincher. Interment followed in Pine Crest Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Roy Whitaker Jr., Charles Whitaker, Melvin Hardeman, Wayne Blount, and Ferrell Williams. Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements. Additional Comments: Inez was born 5 Feb 1922. Her first husband was Joe Milton Tyson who is also buried in Pinecrest Cemetery. .
