SPELL, LYONS LYONS, Ga., Sept 28, - Funeral services for Thomas P. Spell, 67, prominent Toombs county farmer, was held this afternoon from Harden's Chapel Methodist Church, with Rev. V. P. Bowers, Pembroke, officiating, assisted by Rev. H. E. Smith, Savannah. Burial was in the church cemetery with Masonic graveside honors with Trapnell Funeral Home in charge. He was a native of Johnson county, son of the late George S. Spell and Mrs. Jennie Durden Spell. He was a member of the Christian church and a former school superintendent for twelve years in Toombs county. He was also a Mason, a member of Lyons Lodge No. 49. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cathie Winge Spell, Lyons; two daughters, Mrs. Robert B. McCloud, Decatur, and Mrs. Willis McLain, Jr., Savannah; one son, Jack Spell, Lyons; one brother, G. C. Spell, Savannah; four sisters, Mrs. H. N. Roddenberry of Orlanda, Fla., Mrs. W. H. Cochran and Mrs. C. L. Fiveash, both of Lyons, and Mrs. Hugh T. Taylor, Vidalia; four grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were nephews, C. J. Spell, G. T. Cochran, Marion Winge, Edwin Fiveash, Clint Taylor, Edwin Winge, J. D. Spell, and Bob Winge. Honorary pallbearers were Howard Murchison, Sr., Dr. Lloyd Darby, Frank Jenkins, Bill Holloway, Hoke Jordan, J. A. Lilliard, W. J. Culberson, Gene Crosby, Rufus Harrison, Dr. H. D. Yeomans, and Carlos Alexander.
