She was a native of Emanuel County and the widow of William Joseph Tyson. She had lived on Pine Street in Vidalia. Mrs. Tyson was the daughter of Enoch David Smith and Ocilla Claxton Smith. She was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Paul Lockley of Lyons; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Clark of Crawford, Mrs. Alva Holbrook of Cumming, Mrs. Ruby Jungeman of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Helen Shuman and Mrs. Katie Arnold, both of Savannah; two brothers, George W. Smith of Jacksonville, Fla. and Henry L. Smith of Gainesville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 5 great- great-grandchilden and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 3pm Tuesday in Harden Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Phillips officiating and assisted by Rev. Harold Marsh. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Thurman Mathis, James Lillard, Al Pierce, Joe Lillard, James Johnson, and James Lockley. Murchison Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
