He was a native of Emanuel County, son of the late John and Jane Moxley Tyson, but had lived in Ohoopee most of his life. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Daisy A. Tyson of Lyons; four daughters, Mrs. Naomi Davis and Mrs. Ida Mae Thompson, both of Lyons, Mrs. Jeanette Cowart and Mrs. Lula Belle Googe, both of Savannah; three sons, John Edward and Earl E., both of Lyons, and William Henry of the US Army in Alabama; one stepson, Rev. William B. Anderson of Little Rock, Ark.; four sisters, Mrs. Ada Wiggins and Mrs. Bessie Spivey, both of Vidalia, Mrs. Belle Mixon of Lyons, and Mrs. Roby Wommack of South Carolina; five brothers, Andrew, Aaron, and Otis, all of Vidalia, John and Hardy, both of Lyons; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 3:30pm at Ohoopee Baptist Church, with Rev. Charles Padgett officiating. Burial was at Ohoopee Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill Smith, J. O. Kennedy, Donald Anderson, Douglass Jarrold, Hamp Franklin, and O. L. Humpries. Trappnell Funeral Home of Lyons was in charge. Additional Comments: Carswell was born 30 Nov 1892.
