"Jack" Tyson, 48, of Vidalia died Tuesday at the Veterans Administration Hospital after a short illness. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the DAV Tri-County 21 and the Vidalia American Legion Post 97. He also was a member of North Thompson Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor Tyson of Vidalia; a son, David Tyson of Woodbine; two daughters, Mrs. William H. Meeks Jr. of Frankfurt, Germany and Mrs. Charlie Phillips of Nunez; his mother, Mrs. Leona Anderson of Vidalia; three brothers, Ralph Tyson of Waycross, Charles Tyson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Gwendlyn Tyson of Vero Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday at Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Home in Vidalia with burial in North Thompson Baptist Church Cemetery.
