A native of Toombs County, he was the son of the late John and Ginnie Moxley Tyson. He was a painter. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Ansley Jordan and the Rev. Otto Robinson Jr. officiating. Interment was in Pine Crest Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Ralph Tyson, J. B. Andrews, Jimmy Aaron, Jimmy Tyson, Ronnie Tyson, and Billy Hamilton. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nettie Blalock Tyson of Vidalia; one daughter, Mrs. Ray Hamilton of Vidalia; one son, Archie Tyson of Vidalia; three sisters, Mrs. W. E. Wommack of Clearwater, SC, Mrs. James Wiggins of Vidalia, and Mrs. W. C. Spivey of Vidalia; three brothers, Andrew, Hardy, and Aaron Tyson, all of Vidalia; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Additional Comments: John was born 30 Mar 1909.
