(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net April 20, 2011, 11:05 am The Vidalia Advance 8-3-1989 Page 2A Mr. Jimmy Tyson Mr. Jimmy Tyson, age 49, Route 1 Vidalia, died Friday July 28, 1989 in Meadows Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Tyson was employed by the US Postal Service in Vidalia for 25 years prior to being appointed Post Master for the Soperton, Ga. office. He was a member and deacon of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, member of the Soperton Lions Club, and an honorary member of the Montgomery County Livestock Committee. He was the son of the late Joe Milton and Inez wood Tyson and a native of Toombs County. He had lived in Montgomery County since 1960. Besides his wife, Mrs. Joyce Hart Tyson, Vidalia. Mr. Tyson is survived by two daughters, Ms. Karen Tyson, Vidalia and Mrs. Pattie Fountain, Soperton; one son, Tracey Parker, Vidalia; and one granddaughter, Miss Lauren Tyson, Vidalia. Graveside servcies for the deceased were held Sunday, July 30, 1989 at 3:00pm with the Rev. Dan Edison officiating. Burial followed in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were members of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, postal employees and friends. Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements. Additional Comments: Jimmy was born 16 Sep 1939.
