Wiggins, 78, of 513 Green Street here, died early Sunday morning in The Veterans Administration Hospital in Dublin, Ga., after a long illness. A native of Johnson County, he had lived in Vidalia most of his life. He was a retired contractor and a member of the Smith Street Baptist Church. Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday morning in Pine Crest Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Simpson officiating. Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were: Alby Gay, George Maltby, Garrett Warnock, and Tommy Zeigler. Honorary pallbearers were members of the American Legion Post No. 97. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Carl Morgan of Vidalia and Mrs. Herbert E. Halliday of Chesterfield, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Jake Gay of Savannah and Mrs. Sara Jane Evans of Greenwood, NC; one brother, John B. Wiggins of Savannah; one grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Additional Comments: James was born 28 Sep 1895. Georgia death certificate #034618.
